I received a cartoon concerning the Chapter 7 issue with the UN.
This cartoon, published by Iraq of Tomorrow, is titled with the phrase “Et tu Brute?” from Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, to represent the Kuwaiti betrayal of Iraq for refusing to facilitate the Iraqi request to exit from Chapter VII sanctions. Kuwait has insisted that if Iraq wants to exit from UN sanctions, it must fully comply with obligations such as payment of war reparations, settling its debt and demarcation of land and maritime borders. A Kuwaiti official is portrayed in the cartoon as fanning the flames of “Kuwaiti-Iraqi Differences” with the country’s rejection of the idea of allowing Iraq to escape the crippling sanctions.
