We went to the top on of one of Iraq's tallest structures last night to take in the view. It's amazing from this view how normal Baghdad appears to be. I saw traffic moving along the river, buildings had lights and even non-lethal fireworks. Sometimes it's hard to believe this country has so many problems with violence. My sense of calm was shattered today with reports of a rocket attack and another suicide bomber.
The US troops are leaving the cities in another 10 days. No one knows what next month holds and everyone is holding their collective breath in anticipation.
Baghdad needs to return to a normal city -- some parts good, some parts bad, but all living, working, being a city. Please may that happen when the troops leave. There's so much to look forward to and many, many prayers that please may it all come true.
