Just had my first cigar at the Baghdad Cigar Connoisseur's Club. Kind of strange to be in smoke filled outdoor area with guys talking about the future of Iraq. Strange in that these are some of the guys (and gals) aactually making the policy of the future of Iraq, not just a parlor discussion. I don't know why I waited so long for my first time, I guess I never had anyone walk me through the process. For those complete newbies, be sure to cut both ends of the cigar and don't inhale.
The next one will be on the 4th of July. In past years, I have celebrated the 4th by heading down to our family lake house and enjoying somelively late night discussion while floating on a boat with my brother and some longtime friends. We always had plenty of iced Cokes and other beverages. We always use the opportunity to discuss all the things you not supposed to, namely religion and politics. I guess I will have to take a rain check for this year. I hate missing some of these annual events. It's amazing how much of your life is punctuated by holidays and tradition.
